Join Keep America Beautiful's Great American CleanupTM !

Montgomery County Solid Waste District, through their Keep America Beautiful program, invites you to participate in the area’s largest organized volunteer litter cleanup and community improvement program– the Great American Cleanup. This year’s program is open March 1, 2008 - May 31, 2008.

What you can receive:

• Full color posters to promote your project, trash bags from our national sponsor Glad® and gloves. 
• Thank you promotions and invitation to special events
•  Litter Bugs Me Day will be held April 12 @ the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery

  • Volunteer celebration!  June 8 @ Dayton Dragon’s Litter Free Day-more information included with volunteer packet
  • Raffles are conducted for groups that return their cleanup summary forms
  • Customized group thank you certificate and/or blanks for your individual volunteers

• Other incentives will be given as they become available from our sponsors
• Join our Adopt-An-Area Program by cleaning up your project area one more time this year and receive even more incentives, including a customized Adopt-An-Area sign

Planning your own event...
If you would like to focus on a specific neighborhood, street, park, playground, vacant lot, etc., we can help make your event a success.           

We can offer:

• A cleanup packet of instructions, tips, etc.
• All of the supplies & materials listed above & consultation.

• Adopt-A-Park oragnized by Five Rivers MetroParks. Anyone can volunteer by calling 275-7275. This year’s cleanup is set for April 19, from 9am  to noon.
• State Roadway Cleanup, March 28 & 29, 225-4999.
• Cleanup Vandalia Day, May 9, 898-5891.
• Clean Sweep of the Great Miami River, July 11 & 12, 225-4999.
• Call your local community for additional activities.

Event  Planning Tips

• Choose a spot and visit the site to plan your event.
• Set a date and time. Have a rain date or a rain plan.
• Recruit family members, friends or neighbors.
• Get the materials you will need for your activities by filling out the form below.
• Organize your “tools” and your resources.
• Make it fun…bring water, juice, soda and cookies
• Take before, during and after photos.
• Announce your event to the media.
• Please submit any photos, stories, special volunteers, etc. We can forward information to the national office for award consideration.
